Canada Post Withdraws 72-Hour Lockout Notice
Posted on July 11th, 2016

Canada Post (CA) wishes to share the following update:

On Sunday, July 10th, the Minister of Employment, Workforce Development and Labour, MaryAnn Mihychuk, encouraged both Canada Post and the Canadian Union of Postal Workers to continue their discussions.

Accordingly the Corporation has withdrawn its 72-hour notice, which was to take effect Monday, July 11.

Canada Post expects the union to honour what it has said publicly on many occasions – that they have no plans to issue a strike notice.  As a result, there will not be a lockout.

This will allow both parties to focus on negotiations while providing certainty to customers and employees that the postal system will stay open for business.
