U.S. Raises De Minimis Exemption

The de minimis exemption for goods imported into the United States has been raised from $200 to $800 a day, U.S. Customs and Border Protection announced on March 10. This means that an individual may import goods free of duties and taxes up to a value of $800 per day. The Trade Facilitation and Trade Enforcement Act of 2015, signed by President Barack Obama on February 24, increased the exemption.
