Emergency Information System Message
Message n° 095/2015
10 November 2015

Further to EmIS 92/2015, the designated operator of Australia would like to inform the designated operators of other UPU member countries that the industrial action within the Australian Border Force (Customs) mainly affected operations on 4 November in some offices of exchange (OEs), and on 9 November (a national day of action for all Australian Border Force staff) in all inbound OEs.

Thanks to the ongoing discussions between Australia Post and Australian Border Force management, inbound EMS was not affected. However, inbound parcels and LC/AO were not processed on Wednesday, 4 November in some OEs and on Monday, 9 November in all OEs. Australia Post OEs are working to clear the inbound parcels and LC/AO backlog this week. This may affect the leg 2 performance of inbound items arriving in Australia this week.

Australia Post would suggest that, if designated operators have publicly notified customers of this action, the notification advice remain in place until the end of the week, to ensure customers’ expectations are managed.
