Chile Flooding Update
Posted on April 2nd, 2015

Further to EmIS 25/2015, the designated operator of Chile, CorreosChile, asks us to inform the designated operators of other Union member countries that the red alert issued on 25 March in response to the serious flooding in northern Chile continues for the following administrative divisions: Copiapó, Caldera, Tierra Amarilla, Chañaral, Diego de Almagro, Vallenar, Alto del Carmen, Freirina and Huasco. The division of Taltal is also affected.

The alert has been lifted in the administrative divisions of Antofagasta and Tocopilla, and mail distribution has returned to normal there.

Unfortunately mail delivery continues to be delayed in all the divisions still under red alert, for all categories of mail; this now also includes postal financial services.

CorreosChile thanks all member countries for their understanding and will update the designated operators through EmIS as soon as the situation returns to normal.
