Global ecommerce sales were expected to surpass $1.3 trillion in 2014, according to eMarketer. So what is on the shopping lists of these customers? Pitney Bowes took a look at the top 10 categories for international buyers, and their research and data point to the following:
  • apparel
  • footwear
  • leather
  • jewelry
  • electronics
  • home goods
  • clocks and watches
  • carpets and fabrics
  • computers
  • cosmetics
Pitney Bowes underscores that customers want full disclosure of cross-border costs when they make the purchase – not only the cost for shipping, but also the amount they’ll spend on taxes, duties, and returns. Other considerations are reasonable estimates of delivery time and the company’s ability to process payments in the local currency.
